Laois Team

Strong team there, Maybe the squads had to be named early in the week.
It gives both managers time to prep the troops on the opposition line ups.

Laois Team
Eoin Culliton;

Mark Timmons, Denis Booth, Peter O'Leary;

Darren Strong, John O'Loughlin, Padraig McMahon;

Conor Boyle, Brendan Quigley;

Ross Munnelly, Donal Kingston, Colm Begley;

Damien O'Connor, Gary Walsh, Colm Kelly.

My initial Impressions...

Conor Boyle at midfield. He's a natural Defender!? WTF?

1. he is in there to do a marking job on PK
2. There to facilitate John O'Loughlin if he goes midfield.
3. Could play a sweeper role and force Colm Begley back into the middle.

Donal Kingston, he walked off the panel a couple of weeks ago? now he starts....!

1. He will start at full forward and Gary Walsh will go to the forty where he played against us in the league.

2. Kingston in means Clancy Out, far better operator and natural fit than clancy to play the target man role.

Their Full back line

It's the same as the one we faced in the league, except Timmons is named at corner back not full back.

In that league game, our full forward line had the upperhand. Lennon in particular, he had numerous markers throughout the night. (more on Lennon tomorrow)

Their full backline needed some help, and I feel they will need it even more with Maguire and Byrne starting and upgrading our line from that night even further.

So confirming further why I think Boyle will provide it....and Begley will drop off the wing and play midfield. Under 21 O'Connor will drop out onto the wing.

Leaving Kingston and Colm Kelly inside.

Strong Bench

Justin McNulty Boasted a full bill of health recently so

NO
Meaney,
Clancy,
MJ Tierney
and
Billy Sheehan
Plus, former AFL recruit Conor Meredith in their starting line up.
means they have plenty of ammunition on the line.
