Louth GAA Transfer Deadline Day 2014!

Every year this gets me, I don't know why but it always does...

Whether we like it or not it is exciting. To see moves on paper it gets the curiosity out in all of us within Louth GAA circles.
I dunno, maybe its the privacy element where in some cases we get to view teams dirty laundry out in public.

Anyway, 49 attempted adult transfers and 11 Juvenile, 60 in total

Enjoy reading or noseying through the list!

Transfer Round up below too

Transfer round-up

Top Transfers

Paddy O'Boyle, St Nicholas to O'Raghallaigh's  Finally after all these years Paddy O'Boyle gets his move away from the Nicks. He follows a long line of talented Nicks players that have moved to try their hand at senior level. A temperamental but talented forward and the best player to be transferred this year. A big boost to the Raghs as they will go into this year without their emigrated pair of Ruairi Moore and Joe Flanagan.

Next up is a name not overly familiar to Louth GAA fans but could have been. Aaron Mulligan, he moves back to Na Piarsaigh from the Gers. He left them as a juvenile somewhat controversially, as he was a superbly talented underage player so much so he made the move across channel to soccer club Sheffield Wednesday. Still relatively young, he could make waves. Keep an eye out for him.

Tullyallen have acquired Sean Byrne from Stabannon a solid midfielder at that grade he will be a huge boost to the Glen emmets as they look to bounce back up into intermediate after relegation last season.

Best of the rest, TJ Doyle Cian's brother uncle goes back to the O'Connells from Stabannon, John Curran from the Seans joins Togher and Darren McEneaney also leaves the Seans and joins Junior Champions Hunterstown Rovers.

Withdrawal symptoms
Some times Withdrawals tell the best tales or no tale at all.....Dundalk Young Irelanders lost all the Nixon brothers last year however oldest brother Andrew has rejoined this season but they will still feel the effects of last years fall out as the Nixon brothers twins actually withdrew a transfer back to them.

Refused Entry
This is where it gets messy, as one of the clubs are usually not willing to part with one of their players. Not a nice situation but no Strangers to this are the Wolfe Tones who again, are trying to hold on to one of their prized assets. The proposed move to the fechins of John Horan current Louth Under 21 forward is an asset worth fighting for, very good forward and one for the future at county level also.

Overall not an overly vintage transfer dead line day, even Jim White himself found it dull but similar to the soccer one recently, where one move dominates the headlines!

Biggest Winners- Sean McDermotts..Lost 2 players they've picked up 5 players in total. When training numbers are so scarce with emigration and recession, gaining that amount of players will be of massive benefit.

Biggest losers-St Marys,They must have lost 8 players? How a club haemorrhages that amount of players I’ll never know

Thanks for tuning in let me know if I missed a player
or if you agree or disagree on the moves
