Talking points Wednesday:Tyrone continued

Rest assured my My last few talking points are positive.

17:14>scoring power
Yet again we had a high number of scorers across the whole team, highlighting that their is scoring power within the side.

This fact is highlighted further when you consider we were playing a mean Tyrone team who pride themselves on defence.

We kicked 13 scores 10 from play and denied 3 goals due to excellent goalkeeping by John Devine.

Sure, we are working harder than we should be for the points but at least the work ethic and accuracy is there now, when the ground is soft.

Brian Donnelly found his range like he can from the 45' yard mark add an out and out free taker on the pitch, (Darren Clarke, Brian White) for the full duration and we have potential there to contest and win most games on the scoreboard.

18:00>Form

A positive talking point from weekend was how we dealt with top opposition we were in no way out classed. We played some good football of our own and grew in confidence as the game went on.

People came away Drogheda with a feeling of optimisim.

I keep harping on about our midfield but on Sunday our midfield was a source of strength and when Paddy Keenan was sent off so did our chances. You could sense that in the stands and from the lads on the pitch.

So we stand a chance against anyone with our midfield.

The form of Derek Maguire who came back into the side was promising, He was out in front winning fifty balls. Although his shot selection was questionable at times he scored three points on the day and he looks full value to take the other corner forward spot.

Having mentioned the two Oz imports long term benefits, Overall there is a nice panel building there.

Sunday showed we are a Good team and with further competition for places the standards will only get better

Short term Sunday was an excellent dress rehersal for the team, ahead of the the crucial Monaghan game in the same pitch this Sunday.
