Is Armagh Manager Paul Grimley trying to break all records for the amount injured players he is working with? I think, at last count the number of injured players in his squad was 20!
Clever approach Paul Grimley. Very Clever.
I think he is trying to ease the pressure of the Armagh fans off his back, especially now with Geezer in his back room team. If something goes wrong they will be baying for his blood. So instead he gets in there first and plays the poor mouth. Lower the Armagh fans expectations from the get go and while he is at it, play a wee mind game with us.
but it won't work here!
Luckily, we have an Armagh man as manager.
He'll know all his talk is nonsense.
Here's why
Lets go through the so called injured list
Aaron Kernan,
James Morgan,
Long term absentee's know and their absence would have been planned for, well in advance but nice names to throw in to bump up the numbers.
Finian Moriarty,
Paul McKeown,
Mark Shields,
Gary McCooey,
4 defenders which range in Experience but all a similar type of player. Easily replaced with another Armagh panel member. For example Ciaran Rafferty would start ahead of those 4 players anyway even if they were fit.
Brendan Donaghy,
Ciaran McKeever,
and
Aidan Forker,
3 genuine starters but I reckon Donaghy could end up featuring!
Forker is definitely out with a broken rib but he is their only attacker missing where as we are missing at least 2! (Lennon & White)
Armagh can't afford not to start their captain Ciaran McKeever! Broken Wrist or no Broken Wrist!
Doubts
In GAA terms Doubts is a load of BS! They are touch and go to the outside world but, go-go behind closed doors.
Grimley has really bumped up his Doubts list.
Kieran Toner,
Ethan Rafferty,
Aaron Findon,
and
Stephen Harold,
I wouldn't be Surprised if all these didn't start Sunday, nevermind feature.
Conclusion
Armagh name their team via their website. (By the way, very innovative idea!)
So expect to be surprised at the actual strength of their team when it is annouced.
By playing the poor mouth perfectly, Grimley has not only lowered his teams expectations to the outside world but masked their actual strength and the return of quality players such as Charlie Vernon, Kevin Dyas and all star Andy Mallon to their set up!
well played sir, well played.
But,
we're on to ya.
