Louth Players GAA Education Pt IV

So the weekend saw 5 Louth players feature in the O'Byrne Cup, bit of a reality check for all involved as both the Universities were spanked by Kildare and Meath.

Worryingly, UCD pair Patrick Reilly and Andrew English were named corner back whether they lined out there or not I don't know but Kildare scored 5-17 on the day and one of their corner forwards hit 4 goals and 3 points! Lets hope the collateral damage wasn't too bad!

The other semi saw another defeat,Brian Donnelly started in the middle and struck a 45 and a long range free...that free taking accuracy is a major plus considering Whitezer could miss the start of the league. Eoin O'Connor did not start, but came in after 10 mins due to a black card.

Finally Ciaran Ward, He made his first appearance of the season for DCU coming in as a first half sub.
Ward is an interesting case for Louth fans. He played
corner back for the under 21's last season versus Meath representing the Wolfe Tones club in Drogheda, since then he has moved to the Colmcilles in Mornington.Yet another big loss to the Tones who just can't hold on their talent have produced talent, Look no further than Joe Ward winners Barry Kelly*, Conor Brannigan in recent times.  Ward is eligible for the under 21's again this season. I'm sure he is on the panel but I'm not fully sure.
