JFC 2013 How they got here

You can tell alot about a teams chances by looking at how they got on along the way to a final...

I'm going to contrast the two teams route the final and see will it be significant come Sunday.

Group3
Hunterstown 0-15 Stabannon 0-9
St Finbarrs  4-9 Stabannon 2-9
Hunterstown   0-17 St Finbarrs 2-3

Comment:
Yes! they've met before! bet you didn't know that well, if you did, you probly have forgotten by now.

It was the first game for each team in the championship and only for a few late goals in the second half the scoreboard could have looked alot worse for Naomh Fionnbarra.

Both teams beat Stabannon by 6 points but the large volume of scores (32) Hunterstown amassed by winning the group is very impressive.

Quarters
Hunterstown 3-7 Vs Westerns 0-11
St Finbarrs 4-11 St Nicholas 1-9

Comment:
This is the game you can pinpoint the Finbarrs being serious about winning the junior.

William Woods scored 3-8 in this game shooting him to the top of the top scorers list but it provided the togher men with alot of confidence and momentum going into the semi final.

Hunterstown on the otherhand, had a real scare but their ability to score goals got them out of the trickey situation that is a nice thing to have in your armoury.

Semi Final
Hunterstown 4-17 Vs Sean McDermotts 0-6

St Finbarrs 2-8 Vs Oliver Plunketts 1-10
Comment:
Semi Finals are all about winning, Hunterstown won their semi in the first few mins while Togher won theirs dramatically in the last few minutes.

Will the tougher semi stand to the Finbarrs? they've now the experience of coming through a tight encounter and might I add, as underdogs.

This might actually help out rovers, as all the attention has been on the Finbarrs and they may feel the final has been won as a result. Htowns focus is purely on the Christy Bellew not looking back at a drama filled semi final.

Conclusion

Hunterstown have been the best team in the competition...the run in does not lie....they've blitzed all before them and boast a huge scoring potential. but, have they been tested enough?

While the Finbarrs have the best individual talent on show, in William Woods, momentum and a extra chip on their shoulder having lost to Htown in the group.

One thing I can take from each teams particular run in, is that the final is perfectly poised.

Hunterstown are favourites, Louth and Proud fans favourites from the start but Togher have been here before, as recently as 2010 in fact! A number of their players will know the run of the day and experience will stand to them but may dilute their hunger levels.

Hunterstown have had a real focus all year, the way they've carried themselves is professional like....Sunday 3.15pm will be no different.
