Cardinal O'Donnell Final 2012

Background

Aswell as being crowned League champions, the title of being the unofficial best Louth club team of 2012 is also up for grabs.

St Patricks tactical organisation and relentlessness this season is nothing but to be admired and the O'Connells attacking prowess and breakthrough has been the breath of fresh air.

There is no doubt about it, with these two teams closing the 2012 club season, the cream has really risen to the top.

The Game

Unfortunately this time of year the conditions will have a significant bearing on the quality of football on show and the pace of the match.
But it is a great leveler, as both sides will face them.

However we found out last weekend, the conditions did not suit the Castlebellingham men's style of play, as well as the defensive approach of Monasterevan. They will face an equal, if not better defensive approach this Sunday again.

The Pats however, have been resting up this past 3 weeks since their own exit from Leinster at the hands of Sarsfields, kildare Champions also. So they might not be as Sharp as usual.

Some of the O'Connells players will have played 3 weeks in a row and possibly 4 if they play on sunday. So the opposite of sharpness, actually more like fatigue might infact be the case.

To make matters worse for the O'Connells, the game is being played in Dowdashill, where the Pats can call their second home at this stage.

The form guide going into the game is a win for each side, O'Connells beat the Pats in the Sheelan Cup Quarter final and St Patrick's beat them in league at home as well as finishing top of Division 1.

How and ever all fingers point to a St Patrick victory, but try telling that to Jackie Agnew and his outstanding O'Connells 2012 teammates.

Summary

Computer games give you the option of settling scores and possibly finding the ultimate answer to a fantasy debate, like who would win a fight between Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson? or Michael Jordan's against LeBron James's on a basketball court.

In the future, when we look back through the record books. We'll see in 2012, the Pats won the Senior Championship and the O'Connells won the intermediate and reached a Leinster and Sheelan Cup final.

Wow, both had great years wonder who would have won if they played each other!

Luckily for us, on Sunday after the Cardinal O'Donnell final is over. we'll know the answer to that argument.....and it will be in reality too.
