Power Ranking's 1/3

First game of the year all the experimentation is done, every player has been tried out
According to recent form and ranking
And
By looking at all our options

I am going to pick My team for the Game on Sunday
Disclaimer: I don't know his full deck or who is injured!!!!

GoalKeeper Ranking
1. Neil Gallagher

2. Craig Lynch
3. Dwayne Crosby

Discussion: Very hard to select as there is no clear candidate, All three have their separate strength’s and relative experience but Gally just tops the three....he has the most experience, the best shot stopper and his kickout’s rank second behind Crouchy.

Gallagher211
Lynch132
Crosby323

Corner Back Ranking
1. Jaime Carr
2. Pops Rath
3. Gerard Hoey
4. Dessie Finnegan
5. Ronan Greene
6. Jackie Agnew

Discussion: J Carr is a cert, no fuss, solid corner back and very consistent recently. I give Pops the nod at right corner back, coming back into a bit of form after a string of injuries cool customer and great reader of the game. Gerry Hoey just misses out.

Full Back Ranking
1. David Collier
2.
Pop Rath
3. Conor McGuinness
Dessie Finnegan hasn't played FB this year!

Discussion: This is an extremely tough Selection.
Do you start the Rookie? Collier? Do you play Dessie Full back? in his first outing there this year, in our most crucial game? even though he is a full back being used a stop gap recently has him allover the place. corner back against meath centre back against Down and didn't play against Cross or Roscommon.
Or Do you look at Westmeath and the possibility of Glennon full forward and pick someone to mark him specifically? like pops.

The safe conservative option to start this game is to start Dessie but Collier has played every run up game at full back, his confidence is up,I think Fitzer has to be brave to start him.
He has a better chance of perfoming, if he is allowed settle into the game, rather than bringing him in cold off the bench, if something is going wrong. Dessie being held in reserve has the experience to come and is the best option for the team.

My team So far

1.Neil Gallagher
2.Pop Rath 3. David Collier 4. Jaime Carr

Power Ranking’s 2/3

Wing Back Ranking
1. Ray Finnegan
2. Liam Shevlin
3. Stephen Fitzpatrick
4. David McComish

Discussion: These two relatively pick themselves, very consistent. The fact that they are so composed on the ball puts their wing forward under pressure, putting the onus on their marker to defend rather than the other way round.

Centre Back Ranking
1. Declan Byrne
2. Derek Crilly
3. Dessie Finnegan

Discussion: Deccie if fit, will Start at centre back end of. He needs to grow into the role, if he is allowed, then he destined to play that position for Louth, for years. Crilly played there last week but not seen as a long term option.

MidfielD Ranking
1. Paddy Keenan
2. Brian Donnelly

3. Ronan Carroll
4. Michael Rogers
5. Liam Shevlin
6. Eoin O'Connor

Discussion: Paddy Keenan is a no brainer when fit although there must be a doubt about his performance this Sunday after his recent hamstring scare...Ronan Carroll’s flexibility has taken away from his Midfield push, leaving Brian Donnelly ably left to partner Keenan. Dominant in the air and can kick long range free’s and 45’s. The best 2 ranked midfielders in Louth should start there Sunday.

Middle Sector

5. Ray Finnegan 6. Declan Byrne 7. Liam Shevlin
8. Paddy Keenan 9.Brian Donnelly

Power Ranking’s 3/3

Centre Forward Ranking
1. Ronan Carroll
2. Derek Crilly
3. Mark Brennan
4. Conor Rafferty

Discussion: Ronan Carroll can win breaking ball add presence on the forty but most of all gives us more scoring potential than the others tried out there this year. Ronan’s power caused Westmeath’s defence problems before more at full forward but he can make the easy transition and swap with Jim and go there if he likes and further confuse their direct opponents also.

 Wing forward ranking
1. Adrian Reid
2. Derek Crilly
3. Cathal Bellew
4. Conor Rafferty5. Jason Clarke
6. Eoin O’Connor
7. Baz O’Hare

Discussion: Our two most stereotypical wingers are at the top with Bellew and Raffo pushing them all the way but those two should start Sunday....younger Reido has found his scoring touch of late and looked lively in all games up to this point. Crilly although used about the place has been consistent and gets through a barrage of work. In saying that Cathal Bellew should make his debut on Sunday his pace and scoring potential could be influential off the bench.

Full forward Ranking
1. Jim McEnaney
2. Ronan Carroll
3. Michael Rogers
4. Eoin O’Connor

Discussion: Jim linked up very well and kicked scores in every game he’s been involved in so making him the form player at Full forward...A decent target man and in his own back yard could make for a lively debut.

Corner Forward Ranking
1. Darren Clarke
2. David Reid
3. Derek Maguire
4. JP Rooney
5. Chinky
Notable mention Barry Hamilton

Discussion: Darren Clarke is a sure bet. We all know that but the other corner is very much up for debate. Although a 3 goal Salvo for DKIT during the week Derek Maguire has not played as freely as he’d like for Louth so far this Season. On the other hand David Reid has, for me he has to start the season in the corner. With that vote of confidence he needs, finally his accuracy will bear fruit at this level.

Final Third

10.Adrian Reid 11.Ronan Carroll 12. Derek Crilly
13.Darren Clarke 14.Jim McEnaney 15.David Reid
