Division 2 After Party

Here's a run down of the Winners from the Division 2 awards Wrap up Party

Best team Award: Tyrone for me, although Kildare
came out on top in the Decider, they were streets ahead of other teams in the division.

Worst team Award:Meath it just has to be them, for the pathetic way they feel off the face of the earth.
Dark horses Award: Galway only for a  last minute winner by John Doyle the ycould have been in Croke park.

Best Ground Award:Some really great grounds but Pearse Stadium in Galway has it all, nice pitch, compact, grounds, super new Stand and Supermacs at every corner of the ground.honourable Mention Clones super parking facilities but just too vast of a ground to fill for a league game

Worst Ground Award: Drogheda....next award quick

Best Atmosphere Award: Opening 5 and last 5 minutes of the Meath game, relief and a ton of tension

Worst atmosphere Award: Westmeath game in Haggardstown was like a challenge match!,  players intensity can't have been helped by the lack of crowd participation in the freezing cold.

Best looking fans: Yep we still  ain’t see nothing like a Galway girl
Ugliest looking fans: Westmeath (I wish I could say meath but meath mother and lover I know i know love is blind)

Nicest jersey: Louth's new warm up gear displayed in Clones gets my vote!
Ugliest Jersey: Derry's has so much potential but not at all nice

My Team of Division 2

G Connaughton
O Lyons, Darren Hughes, E Bolton
C McCarron, P Harte, G Bradshaw
R Carroll, J Doyle
M Conway, P Finlay, M Donnelly
D Clarke, P Bradley, K Coney

Any Problems with that team Mail me or tweet @louthproud for a discussion

Best Goalie: Gary Connaghton, a constant Shining light for Westmeath, started his campaign with a great save in the opening minute against Louth.
Honorable mention: John Devine can't even get in the Tyrone team! made 3 or 4 top class saves against louth in drogheda, one from mark Brennan in particular.

Best Defence: Tyrone, conceded a paltry 69 points in total, best form of attack for them is offence! but they work so hard as a team slash system to snuff out opposing attacks

Defender: i don't get much right but when i do, you are going to heat about it, Ollie Lyons from Kildare was tipped by me to the best defender and was, scored a vital winner for the lillies against Meath which turned their season round.
Honorable mention: Gareth Bradshaw and Cathal McCarron two of the best right half backs around love to get forward but not as tight as you's like going the other way.

Best midfield: Our midfield unit with or without PK was highly impressive and gave us the platform all year whether on the ground or in the air,.

Midfielder: PK wasn't fit enough to dominate and no real outstanding midfielder out there! So I've given the two slots to Wing forwards! who floated in and out of the middle sector over the league campaign. John Doyle  & Ronan Carroll, They both  had a pretty impressive ends to the campaign vitally shining by getting on the scoresheet.

Best forwards:
Monaghan's full forward line tore us a sunder!! We couldn't handle the nippiness of mcGuinness, Freeman inside and Jap killing us with free's and Gollogy's pace with Eoin lennon's power we were no match, hence the 2-24 drubbing.

Forward:
Take a bow Darren Clarke, spoke about Clarkie yesterday and don't want to be giving him too fat of a head with Championship in 16 days.

Honorable mention: Stephen Bray, class player and really tried against Louth we were happy to  see him out the field away from goals.

Best Freetaker: Paul Finlay , one of the best around, Ultimate calmness personified.
Worst freetaker: Kieran Martin Westmeath man didn't shoot the lights out of Haggardstown, skyed numerous frees, maybe we shouldn't be too harsh on the natural defender.

Top Goalpoacher : Surprisingly top goalscorer was Peter Harte with 5 goals!! serious tekkers although few peno's in there he scored a great goal in Drogheda

Mail me or Tweet me @louthproud if you agree or don't agree with the above!
