Championship Countdown

10 days till the Westmeath Game and here's 10 reason's to be either optimistic or pessimistic!

5 Reasons to be Cheerful

1. We've had our Club games stir the blood recently, now, from here on in quality GAA on our screen's every weekend....I can hear the Sunday game theme tune in my head already da. da. da. du du DAH
2. Andy McDonnell, it seems has gone against the grain and negated against a trip to America this summer, great boost. Could have a massive part to play for us this summer.
3. Ehhhhh only ten days away!! less than 240 hours!! is not reason enough to be cheerful!
4. Dessie Dolan reluctance to come back into the Westmeath set up will not instil much belief in their camp and for their supporters. not a bad player either!
5. Westmeath's recent bad form: Bad Challenge match defeat against Meath does not bode well for them.

5 Reasons to be Glum (uncheerful?)

1. Brutal RTE Coverage of the GAA!!, Pundits giving out!! aboutwhat? hmmm let me think of the top of my head? about the state of the game in early rounds and poor standard of referring...Sort it out!!! bit like groundhog day at this stage, lads!

2. Lack of Under 21's that have been drafted into the panel, feels like we have missed an opportunity for talented players to get acclimatised to the county set up, Messrs Williams, Murray, McKeown, Woods, Reilly and Flanagan especially.
3. Square Ball Rule, we could be sneaky and be working on tactics to bambozzle Westmeath, turn a game, unsettle their great Shot stopper and create a goal scoring chance but somehow I doubt it, and I predict not till after the game where Gally has been trampled on and conceded 6 goals! will we start to look at the rule change seriously.

4. The number of Exiles, Brian White, Brian Donnelly, James Califf and Cathal Bellew. Not only a  massive loss to the squad, but their knock on impact on training, team spirit, preparations and depth could be devastating down the line.

5. Westmeaths recent bad form: they can't be as bad as they have been recently and  could be lying in that long grass waiting for Championship to cause an upset. Yikes!
