DCU report card

Right, do ye want the Good News first or the Bad News first?
You decide by scrolling down to the preferred heading and reading whatever you want first.
Stephen Campbell got Louth’s first point of 2014! Richard Brennan got the first black card of 2014 and fellow Cooley man Brian White got the second and the first yellow+Black =Red Card combination in 2014 also.
Good News
-It’s only January.
-Eoin O’Connor. Playing for DCU, He was the best midfielder on the pitch last night. He has really come on leaps and bounds. Under the guidance of Niall Moyna and the practically professional environment it will bring him on even more.

-O’Connells man/boy Cian Doyle shone again last night...so good on the ball and excellent at gaining possession.

-The return of Deccie Byrne. He is more than capable at this level and should find his feet even more so during the O’Byrne Cup.

-We got to try out even more players. Kieran Lenihan William Woods both Togher, Richard Brennan Paddy Sheelan both Cooley, James Stewart Dundalk Gaels, Bevan Duffy Fechins.
The reason for this is due to a wee injury rehab crisis and lads playing with their Colleges(Full list below) AOR has drafted back in lads and took some from the Under21 squad great exposure for them. Also, as a result of these circumstances a gem may have been unearthed. I think James Stewart could be kept on board. Quietly impressive when he was introduced.
-Great to see Louth Players starting with Colleges it’s a stepping stone and great for a young players development. Kieran Ward from the Tones was on the bench last night too. He also caused some confusion too, Named as 19 in the programme but the number 19 that came on was not him it was n fact Dublin starlet Conor McHugh!
-Haggardstown under lights is kinda special...click link to see why

Bad News
-Why are we playing PK in January? Pet hate of mine.
-We were beaten by a DCU side without any marquee names. But the bad performance was the real worry, we seemed disjointed and disinterested for the majority of the game.
- Dessie in Midfield, it was trialled last season too and I don’t understand it.
There was a number of players with more midfield experience and would have been more valuable to see how they coped than our full back playing there last night.
Liam Shevlin with Clogher,
Decie with Mochs,
Would really like to see Shevlin tried out there he could have more influence on the game rather than being restricted to left half back. You could say the same about Decie.
Bevan Duffy IS a midfielder only came on as a sub same goes with Daniel O’Connell
If they are involved going forward then they need to tried out now.
