The Championship whip round

After a hectic Championship period allow me to catch up on the happenings while the dust settles for two weeks.

SFC

In the Senior ranks, the championship got off to the most predictable start.

With the so called top 4 Pats, Cooley, Blues and Mattock getting respective wins the first time out.

Week 2 of the championship saw Glyde throw a Spanner in the works beating Mattock Rangers. Otherwise the remainder of the top 4 kept up to their profile.

However it is the convincing manner of victories that worries me, The League if anything has shown us how irrelevant it is when it comes to championship.

More teams in the lower half of Division 1 have wins than the top half!

IFC

Intermediate football could easily be compared to the championship division in England. Highly highly competitive and notoriously hard to get out off.

The Mochta's, Clans and Brides have secured their place in the quarter-finals but who will join them is as tough to pick as the winner of the competition itself!

Stay tuned

JFC

In the Junior ranks
Plunketts and Hunterstown are head and shoulders above the chasing pack.

Unless something special happens, the Division 1 team and Division 3 winners will surely go all the way to the final.

The chasing pack of Dunleer, Tullyallen, Seans, St Kevins and John Mitchells might be more than up to the task of something special especially the Green and Red of Glen emmetts and the Seans.

Refreshing to see the Wolfe tones in the last 8 also, Usually when you hear the team mentioned its for negative reasons so its good to highlight there positives, John Horan the minor from last year is a real gem for them also!

         Quarter Final Draw

Hunterstown V Dunleer
Seans V St Kevins
Glen Emmetts V John Mitchells
Plunketts V Tones
